BUT DESPITE THE VOLUME OF CALLS , THERE WERE NO SERIOUS INJURIES. THE 911 CENTER WAS ACTIVATED AS AN EMERGENCY ACTIVATION NTCEER AT 8:00 THIS MORNING WITH SEVERAL MUNICIPALITIES JOINING THEM VIRTUALLY TO SHARE INFORMATION AND DISPATCH CREWS. THROUGHOUT THE DAY THEY RERTPO HAVE DECLARED DISASTERS. BRIDGEVILLE, MILLVALE AND SCTOT TOWNSHIP. OFFICIALS SAY T RHEED CROSS HAS OPENED THREE SHELTERS IN ROSS, ETNA AND BRIDGEVILLE. THE CHIEF OF EMERGENCY SERVICES SAYS WHILE THE 911 CALLS HAVE SLOWED, WITH THE DECREASE IN RAIN, THE EMERGEN OCYPERATIONS CENTER REMAINS ACTIVE. >> I DON’T WANT TO SAY WE’RE IN THH CLEAR BECAUSE WE’RE NOT. THE RIVERS ARE GOING TO RISE QUICK AND TO RISE QUICK AND A HIT ACTION STAGES AND MAY BE LOWER TO MODERATE FLOOD STAGES. THEY ARE ALSO GOING TO DROP QUICK. ANY TRAFFIC ON THE RIVER, BOAT OWNERS, DOCS, BARGE ACTIVITY, WE REALLY HAVE TO WATCH IT OVER THE NEXT 24 TO 36 HOURS. Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald called the last 24 to 48 hours challenging as heavy rains and flash flooding hit western Pennsylvania. Fitzgerald said the call volume at the 911 center was high. Officials said so far there has been no loss of life and no serious injuries as a result. However, three municipalities have declared a disaster: Millvale, Bridgeville and Scott Township. Officials are expecting more municipalities to do the same, including Oakdale. Officials said many of the calls in to the 911 center have been for rising water on roads and evacuations where swift water rescue teams were dispatched. Officials said crews have been out throughout the night and day clearing culverts and working to keep the water clear. While the rain has mostly stopped or slowed down throughout the area, officials said it's crucial to continue to pay attention because the water is still rising."Our big focus moving forward is to caution everybody to watch the rise of these rivers, creeks and streams particularly if you live near them you really have to be paying attention to the updates. You may need to evacuate those areas as the rivers continue to rise," Allegheny County Chief Matt Brown said. Officials said there are also still travel restrictions and many roads throughout the county remain closed for water, trees down or debris.
