How to Cook a Basic Frittata

Cooking a yummy frittata is pretty straightforward. Simply cook your meat, veggies, or seafood before adding them to the egg mixture.

First, let’s talk about the base of the frittata. My basic recipe uses eggs, milk, cheese, salt, and pepper. From here, the sky’s the limit.

Once everything is combined, pour it into a greased skillet, transfer it to the oven, and cook until it’s golden brown and the center has set.

Once the frittata is done baking, remove it from the oven and allow it cool. Serve the frittata warm with toppings like a dollop of sour cream, guacamole, green onion, or some salsa.

  • 1/3 cup heavy cream or milk
  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1/2 c bacon, cooked and chopped
  • pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup chopped mushroom (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sliced tomatoes (or vegetable of your choice)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. While your oven is heating up, whisk together the eggs and milk in a mixing bowl, adding salt and pepper to taste.

In a large oven-safe skillet, cook the onions and chopped bacon over medium heat until the onions are translucent and the bacon is crispy.

Remove the skillet from the heat and drain any excess grease.

Pour the egg mixture on top of the onion and bacon mixture evenly.

Next, pour your egg mixture into a greased 9-inch greased skillet or pie dish (or any oven-safe dish you have on hand) and gently stir to distribute the ingredients evenly.

Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the frittata and place sliced tomato on the top of the frittata.

Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the eggs are set, and the cheese is melted and golden brown.

Remove the skillet from the oven and let the frittata cool for a few minutes before slicing it into wedges.

Serve while warm. Add toppings like sour cream, guacamole, green onion, or some salsa.
