Explore the arts in Ybor City! Multiple participating venues offer a one-night-only tour with exclusive programs and free parking at HCC.
About this Event

Join multiple participating arts venues and artists studios in Ybor City for a special tour! Start at the HCC Ybor City Campus to grab a wristband, map and parking pass* and then explore the various locations on the tour. Each venue will offer different experiences. See the full list for venues and times below!

*Parking passes available at HCC from 4-8PM only. Parking passes only valid in an HCC-designated lot. Please check the college's campus map for more information.


VENUES
1. Hotel Haya • 1412 E 7th Ave • Pre-event co*cktail hour begins at 4 p.m.

Start your tour with a pre-event co*cktail hour at Hotel Haya! Ask about the Ybor Arts Tour drink special at Flor Fina, then explore the art displays on the first floor of the hotel.

Check-in at HCC for free event parking in one of the college's parking lots + wristbands! Parking passes will be provided in the art gallery.


2. HCC Visual and Performing Arts, Ybor City Campus • 1411 E 11th Ave • 5-7 p.m.

Experience the arts at HCC! Dance, music and theatre will each host live performances in the Performing Arts building during the tour. A solo exhibition by Ya La'ford entitled "HENGE: unearthing ancestral memory" will be on view in Gallery114@HCC and an artist lecture will begin at 6 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre.

3. LAB Theater Project • 812 E Henderson Ave • 5-7 p.m.

LAB Theater Project is a professional theater company dedicated to staging original, never-produced plays. Tour participants can observe a rehearsal in progress for LAB’s November production, "Heirs of Pretending" by Jared Eberlein, and also view paintings by Pinellas artist Robert Sutherland in LAB’s lobby-gallery space.

4. Screen Door: An Ybor City Microcinema • 1624 E 7th Ave, Suite #228 • 5-7 p.m.

Screen Door is a microcinema dedicated to building community through visionary moving-image work of all kinds. They will be exhibiting past FLEX FEST films from 5-7pm followed by a screening of HEREDITARY (2018). Tickets are available for the feature on their website.

5. The Bricks • 1327 E 7th Ave • 6-8 p.m. + After-party @ 9 p.m.!

The Bricks is a restaurant and event space in the heart of Historic Ybor City. Their next exhibition opens in conjunction with the Arts Tour on October 19. “Print Mode (2)” will feature printmaking from 11 artists, including Kaitlin Crockett of Print St. Pete, Joshua T. Pearson and Mike Toth.

On exhibition at FMoPA will be our "Icons of Black and White", featuring vintage photographs from renowned artists such as Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, Lewis Hine and Edward Weston.

Heard Em Say Youth Arts Collective is a nonprofit that amplifies youth voice. During the tour, they will be collaborating with Grow House and Kitchen Table Literary Arts with whom they share space to host an open mic for all ages.

Tampa City Ballet • Kress #216 • 7-9 p.m.

Tampa City Ballet is presenting an installation of our upcoming performance "Interstices," set in Ybor City during the 1930's and inspired by the book Tampa: Impressions of an Emigrant by a Cuban writer Wenceslau Galvez y Delmonte, translated by Noel M. Smith. Like a black and white photograph, burning at the edges and showing its age spots, we are yearning to know the past.

TEMPUS PROJECTS is dedicated to nurturing established and emerging local, national, and international artists through exhibitions, collaborations, residencies, and events. During the tour, solo exhibitions “What Did We Use to Say?” by artist Justin Myers and “Hobby House” by artist Jenn Ryann Miller will both be open with a members hour from 6-7 p.m. and a general reception from 7-9 p.m.


Drift + TEMPUS VOLTA • Kress #236 + 239 • 7-9 p.m.

Drift is an exciting curator series operated by TEMPUS PROJECTS that aims to create opportunities for independent curators who may not have a physical gallery space, fostering and nurturing their talent. Currently on view is a two-person exhibition featuring artists Kalin Price and Erin Titus titled “Look Who Decided to Stop By.”

TEMPUS VOLTA serves as a project space and offers a dynamic platform for artistic experimentation, showcasing a diverse range of special projects, small group shows, and solo exhibitions. During the tour visitors can explore “Ten Days in Bodrum,” a solo exhibition by artist Andrés Ramírez.
